Do 16.02. można oglądać w DDK „Węglin” pracę Dominiki Sobolewskiej „Widzące miejsce”. Instalacja prezentowana jest w ramach wystawy Mindware.
Obiekty przypominające wielkie gałki oczne z wmontowanymi kamerami zostały rozmieszczone w instytucjach kultury Lublina, charakteryzujących się witalnością, przepływem dużej ilości ludzi, oraz zakorzenioną tradycją istnienia i działania. Obrazy przez nie rejestrowane są transmitowane, podobnie jak w telewizji przemysłowej, do centralnego komputera znajdującego się w DDK „Węglin”. System ekranów zainstalowanych w sali klubowej DDK, wyświetla strumień obrazów twarzy i gestów. W ten sposób nowa instytucja zaludnia się tele-obecnością mieszkańców. W reakcji zwrotnej, osoby „patrzące w oko” słyszą informacje zapraszające ich do odnalezienia „w realu” owej przestrzeni, w której wirtualnie właśnie się znaleźli. Nakłaniani przez słyszane głosy zyskują możliwość przekraczania pewnej granicy wizualnej. Ich odbicie w miarę zagłębiania się w półkulę w pewnym momencie znika, by pojawić się następnie na dnie oka. Uzyskany efekt iluzji podkreśla charakter niewidzialnego łączenia się z przestrzenią „po drugiej stronie lustra”.
THE SEEING PLACE

Until 16.02. at the Gallery Weglin one can see the work of Dominika Sobolewska presented within the Mindware exhibition.
Objects reminiscent of giant eyeballs with camera installed in them, are set up in different cultural institutions around Lublin, spots characterized by the vitality of a great flow of human masses passing to-and-from, and with a long history of cultural activities. The images captured by the objects are transmitted, in a manner similar to that of closed-circuit security monitoring system, to a central computer placed in the building of DDK "Weglin". An interconnected system of screens are installed in one of the rooms of DDK, are projecting a stream of images, faces and gestures. In this way, area of DDK is populated with the video-presence of the city’s inhabitants. In a reciprocal manner, a person “looking into the eye” hears information inviting them to physically discover the real place which they have just witnessed only virtually. Persuaded by the voices which they have heard, they gain the ability to transcend a certain visual barrier. As their reflection becomes absorbed by the semisphere, it vanishes, only to reappear at the bottom of the eye. The resulting sense of illusion serves to emphasize the nature of the connection with the realm which lies on “the other side of the looking glass”.
